About Us

Mountain View Counseling & Wellness Center is a group private practice providing outpatient psychotherapy for clients ages 9 and up.

We’re both insurance-based and cash-pay, with a strong referral network — so new clinicians can step into a steady caseload without needing to build one from scratch.

We partner with select commercial insurance plans and private-pay clients, intentionally choosing networks that align with our values and allow for thoughtful, high-quality care — without excessive administrative burden or productivity pressure.

Our team uses the SimplePractice EHR, offering intuitive scheduling, telehealth, and billing features with streamlined documentation tools to save time and support efficiency.

For experienced therapists bringing existing clients or referral sources, we provide a smooth transition and full administrative support to help you settle in with ease.

While much of the field is moving toward sterile, detached systems of care, we’ve chosen a different path — one rooted in warmth, authenticity, and connection.

With our well-established Halifax office and a new location opening in Cumberland County, we’re excited to welcome new therapists who share our values and vision.

Internship Opportunities

At Mountain View Counseling & Wellness Center, we believe in cultivating the next generation of mental health professionals through mentorship, reflection, and meaningful experience. Our internship program offers graduate students in Counseling and Social Work programs the opportunity to grow in both clinical skill and professional identity — within a supportive, holistic practice environment.

Our Approach

While much of the field is becoming increasingly systemized and detached, we take a different path — one rooted in warmth, authenticity, and connection. Our interns are active participants in the rhythm of the practice, learning through experience, supervision, and genuine human relationship.

Interns gain hands-on experience in both the clinical and operational aspects of private practice, including:

  • Conducting intake screenings and supporting waitlist coordination

  • Developing skills in case conceptualization and diagnostic formulation for a broad variety of mental health conditions

  • Participating in individual and group supervision with licensed clinicians

  • Observing sessions (as permitted), co-facilitating groups, and managing a small caseload (for advanced students)

  • Attending team meetings, trainings, and case consultations

  • Practicing clinical documentation and ethical record-keeping

  • Exploring holistic, trauma-informed, and person-centered approaches

  • Learning how private practice operations, scheduling, and client flow are managed

Internship Tracks

We offer two internship pathways designed to meet students where they are in their training journey and support both their professional growth and client care continuity.

Foundational / Short-Term Track

Ideal for practicum students or those completing a single-semester placement. This track focuses on foundational skill development, observation, and systems experience within a private practice setting.

Focus Areas:

  • Intake coordination and administrative flow

  • Observation and note review (as permitted)

  • Case conceptualization discussions

  • Team participation and reflective supervision

  • No direct client caseload (protecting client continuity and ethical standards)

Advanced / Long-Term Track

Designed for students nearing completion of their program who may be interested in continued employment post-graduation. This track provides opportunities for more direct clinical experience under close supervision.

Focus Areas:

  • Direct client work with a small, supervised caseload

  • Co-facilitating groups or workshops

  • Advanced case conceptualization, diagnosis, and treatment planning

  • Strengthening documentation and professional identity

  • Continuing mentorship and potential transition into a therapist role with MVC

Placement type is determined collaboratively based on the student’s academic requirements, level of readiness, and alignment with client care continuity.

Social Work Pathways

Our MSW internship opportunities include both clinical (micro) and community-based (macro) tracks, allowing students to develop competencies aligned with their concentration.

  • Micro (Clinical Focus): Students pursuing clinical practice gain experience in client intake, case formulation, documentation, and therapeutic engagement under LCSW supervision.

  • Macro (Community & Systems Focus): Students with a community or policy orientation may participate in outreach, program development, wellness events, and resource creation that extend MVC’s mission into the broader community.

Both tracks receive consistent supervision, reflective discussion, and mentorship to bridge theory and practice within a human-centered, collaborative environment.

Supervision & Accreditation

Mountain View Counseling & Wellness Center provides qualified on-site supervision that meets both CACREP and CSWE program standards.

  • For Counseling Students (CACREP Programs): Supervision is provided by licensed clinicians (LPC and LCSW) with master’s degrees or higher in counseling or related fields, meeting CACREP requirements for internship site supervision.

  • For Social Work Students (CSWE Programs): Supervision is provided by LCSWs or LSWs with MSW degrees, fulfilling CSWE field instruction requirements for MSW-level internships.

All interns receive weekly supervision and ongoing feedback, with opportunities for case consultation, team collaboration, and reflective practice in a supportive environment designed to foster growth and confidence.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an accredited Counseling or Social Work graduate program

  • Current Pennsylvania clearances: PA State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI fingerprinting (as required)

  • Proof of student liability insurance coverage

  • Professional conduct, strong communication skills, and openness to learning

  • Alignment with our mission of providing care that feels human, not clinical

Location & Structure

  • In-person opportunities at Halifax, PA and Camp Hill, PA (opening December 2025)

  • Flexible scheduling to meet academic and supervision requirements

  • Semester-based placements available (Fall, Spring, or Summer terms)
