Alecedys Redcay, LAPC

Camp Hill, PA

Cedy works with children, teens, and adults navigating trauma, grief, and life transitions — bringing a warm, individualized approach and a whole lot of encouragement to help clients recognize their own strengths and become their own biggest advocate.

What are the top things clients come to you for?

I work with clients who are ready to make sense of their experiences, process trauma and difficult emotions, and figure out what comes next. Many of my clients know they want something to change but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or just need a little extra motivation to get moving. That’s where I come in! I’m here to be in your corner, cheer you on, help you recognize your strengths, and provide a little gentle accountability when you need it. My goal is to help you feel empowered, understood, and capable of creating meaningful change, even when you’re not quite sure how to get there yet.

What's one thing you want a nervous first-timer to know before they walk in?

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door and honestly, you probably wouldn’t be coming to therapy if you did! You can show up exactly as you are. There’s no perfect way to do therapy, no “right” thing to say, and definitely no judgment if you don’t know where to start. We’ll figure it out together. My goal is to create a space where you can be 100% yourself, whether that means talking, crying, laughing, sitting in silence, or admitting, “I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing.” We’ll take things one step at a time, at a pace that feels right for you. I’ll meet you where you are, cheer you on, challenge you when I think you’re capable of more, and remind you of your strengths when you forget them. And if you’re nervous? That’s okay. Being nervous is actually a pretty great place to start.

Who do you feel most effective and energized working with?

I feel most energized working with children, teens, and adults who want change but may need a little extra support getting there. You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, and that’s okay. I’m here to meet you where you are, walk alongside you, cheer you on, and provide the gentle accountability you need to keep moving forward. You don’t have to have it all figured out, we can start wherever you are.

I have a special interest in working with children and teens who have experienced trauma, helping them process difficult experiences, build coping skills, and develop confidence and a stronger sense of self. I also enjoy supporting adults through trauma, grief, life transitions, and personal growth.

I have additional training in trauma, autism, and children’s grief and loss, and I’m currently completing a certificate in maternal health/perinatal grief and loss. No matter what brings you in, my goal is to create a space where you feel accepted, understood, and empowered, with someone in your corner who believes in you, even when you’re still learning to believe in yourself.

What approaches do you use, and what does that actually look like for a client in the room?

I take an eclectic and individualized approach to therapy because I truly believe therapy should fit the person, not the other way around. I’ll be honest: my approach can be a little unconventional. I’m not afraid to ask the hard questions, challenge you when needed, or encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone. But I promise, I’m doing it because I believe in you even on the days when you might not believe in yourself. I’m going to be your cheerleader, but I’m also going to lovingly call you out when I think you’re holding yourself back.

Therapy with me isn’t just about sitting on a couch and talking about your week. Sometimes we’ll talk, sometimes we’ll laugh, sometimes we’ll get uncomfortable, and sometimes we might try something completely different. There may be some unconventional moments, but there will always be intention behind them. At the end of the day, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and accepted while also helping you grow. I want you to leave therapy not only feeling supported, but feeling empowered, more confident, and better equipped to advocate for yourself and create the life you want.

What's something that you're really good at as a therapist?

I’m really good at creating a space where you can show up exactly as you are; no judgment, no pretending, and no pressure to have it all figured out. I’ll be your biggest cheerleader and advocate, celebrating the little wins and reminding you of your strengths when you forget them. But my goal isn’t to be your advocate forever; it’s to help you become your own biggest advocate. I’ll meet you where you are, support you, challenge you when needed, and always remind you that you’re capable of more than you may realize.

What are you into outside of work?

Outside of work, you’ll often find me with my two cats, Moose and Raven, who you may occasionally see around the office. They absolutely love coming to work with me and have become expert cuddlers, professional treat-tasters, and occasional session supervisors. They’re always happy to accept some extra rubs!

I’m also a HUGE reader and love collecting different editions of books, especially ones that are meaningful to me. Some of my favorites include The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune, Happy Place by Emily Henry, A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, and Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry.

And finally, I’m a big plant lover (although Moose and Raven seem to think my plants are an all you can eat salad bar, so we’re still working on boundaries there).
